NMJC Placement Testing

Accuplacer Next Generation Testing
On NMJC Campus
NMJC placement testing is known as Accuplacer Next Generation. Accuplacer Next Generation
is given Monday- Friday. Please call (575)492-2592 or email us at Testing@nmjc.edu for more information. This placement test is used to help counselors place you in
classes that match your skill level to give you the best opportunity for success.
Please see the Help Desk in the Ben Alexander Building first to receive a form to
take an Accuplacer Next-Generation test.
You will need to bring a Government Issued ID and a Placement Form with your A# from
the help desk.
There is no fee the first time you take Accuplacer Next Generation unless you are
taking it for another institution besides New Mexico Junior College. If you need to
retake a section of the test, there is a fee of $5.00. If you need to retake the whole
test, the fee is $15.00. These fees are paid at the cashier's office on the NMJC Campus
located in the Ben Alexander building.
Accuplacer Next Generation is not a timed test, but please plan to be here for up to 2 hours.

Please be aware that the practice test will ask you to create an account. It will ask for first and last name, email address (you may use your personal), and a valid password. You may take the practice test as many times as you like.
There is a calculator embedded in Accuplacer Next Generation. Please do not bring
a calculator with you. There are no cell phones or electronics allowed in the testing
center. The Testing Center provides scrap paper and pencil. Earplugs are available
for students.
Retakes must wait for a minimum of 14 days between attempts.
Online ACCUPLACER Placement Test
If you need to take our placement test online or at another Testing Center, please read the following information before filling out the Accuplacer Voucher Form.
Please make sure you have a student A# (EX. A00000001). If you do not have a student A#, you will need to apply for admission. If you do not know your A# or need help applying for admission, please call the help desk (575-492-2577).
Once we receive the Accuplacer voucher form, please give us 24 hours to process and send out your voucher. If you send the Accuplacer voucher form in after 5pm on Friday, give us 72 hours to process and send out your voucher. If you do not receive the Accuplacer voucher within this amount of time, please call the Testing Center (575-492-2591).
It is the student's responsibility to call and make an appointment as well as pay any fees the testing site may charge to proctor the placement exam. The voucher will have all the testing sites information to call and make an appointment. The voucher is valid for 90 days. Student's taking their placement exam with Examity (online) are required to have a laptop, microphone, great internet connection, and webcam. Examity will need access to your computer to proctor your exam. NMJC is not responsible for any requirements Examity may require for online Accuplacer testing. Examity is a third party user, who proctors online Accuplacer for NMJC students. If you have any problems during testing or questions about fees, you will need to contact Examity for further assistance.
Once you have taken the placement exam, you can speak to an NMJC counselor. Please contact the help desk (575-492-2577) to speak with a counselor.
If you need to retake any portion of the placement exam, you will have to wait 14 days before you can retake the test. You will need a new voucher to retest. The voucher form will need to be filled out again and sent after the 14 days are up. The testing site or online proctoring system will also charge you their fee to retest.
