About Thunderbird Health Center


Thunderbird Health Center is conveniently located on the New Mexico Junior College campus, inside the Caster Annex. It is operated by Nor-Lea Hospital District and serves NJMC students and employees suffering from minor illnesses, minor wounds and minor injuries with the same exceptional care you have come to expect from Nor-Lea.

Please be aware that while appointments are free of charge, any additional services (including imaging and lab testing) are not free of charge and will be billed to the patient. If you need assistance with additional costs, please ask any of our team members about financial counseling services.

Financial Counseling Services at Thunderbird Health Center provides patients with helpful resources to navigate the financial
aspect of their health journey including assistance with healthcare insurance enrollment, medical transport and more.

 PATIENTS WE MOST COMMONLY SERVE 

  •  Patients who do not have the available resources to meet their medical & social needs
  •  Patients who need assistance in enrolling in medical programs
  •  Patients who have recently lost their medical coverage
  •  Patients who have recently been diagnosed with a major illness
  •  Patients who need education on medical coverage

 

 WHAT TO EXPECT 

  • Eligibility is based upon federal poverty guidelines
  • You may be asked to bring supporting documentation
  •  Unbiased screening to provide all available resources to meet medical and social needs for the patient and family
  •  Coordination with providers to provide quality care while addressing patient financial responsibility
  •  We will research any and all available resources locally and statewide to alleviate patient burden
  •  We act as a resource for providers and hospital staff
