The Western Heritage Museum and Lea County Cowboy Hall of Fame's Distinguished Author series features David Thomas author of Killing Pat Garrett, The Wild West's Most Famous Lawman - Murder or Self-Defense? - Thursday, March 5 at 6:30 pm. Admission is free.

Pat Garrett, the Wild West’s most famous lawman – the man who killed Billy the Kid – was himself killed on leap day, February 29, 1908, on a barren stretch of road between his Home Ranch and Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Who killed him? Was it murder? Was it self-defense?

Author David Thomas, drawing on newly discovered information, gives the definitive answer to one of the Wild West’s most famous unsolved killing.

Garrett’s life has been extensively researched. Yet, Thomas was able to uncover an enormous amount of new information.

David G. Thomas is an author, historian, filmmaker, producer, actor, screenwriter and travel writer. David is also the co-founder of the Pat Garrett Western Heritage Festival and the Friends of Pat Garrett.
