As the excitement for the upcoming spring semester builds, New Mexico Junior College (NMJC) begins spring registration activities, offering an array of opportunities and events to support students in their academic journey.

Leah Wagner, one of the five dedicated Academic Success Coaches at NMJC, expressed her enthusiasm for aiding students in navigating their academic paths. "As Academic Success Coaches, we take pride in guiding students through their course selections, degree planning, and helping them achieve both short-term and long-term goals," said Wagner.

For a portion of students, the spring semester is often their last semester here at NMJC. The highlight of spring registration for Wagner is supporting students in their "finishing semester" of their degrees. “Seeing the fruit of all their hard work is always the most rewarding part of the job. Whether it's a degree in Automotive, Nursing, Welding, Cosmetology, or any other field, the sense of accomplishment during graduation is unmatched," Wagner continued. "Seeing a student you have worked with since their first semester walk across that stage truly is inspiring.” 

Beyond registration, NMJC is gearing up for an exciting lineup of events throughout the spring semester. "Our calendar is packed with engaging events like the Transfer Fair, Discovery Day, the Career & Job Fair, and the highly anticipated Commencement Ceremony," Wagner shared. Additionally, NMJC’s Student Life and various other departments organize frequent on-campus events to ensure our students remain active and involved while prioritizing their academic pursuits.

Wagner also noted the change in campus dynamics as the weather warms. “I notice that the students start to hang out in our campus patios and other outdoor areas. There are even a few students who ride their skateboard, rollerblades, and bikes from class to class.” 

As NMJC gears up for the upcoming spring semester, the college continues its commitment to creating a dynamic atmosphere that encourages academic growth and an active campus.
