NMJC’s Fall 2024 Enrollment Sees a Positive Uptick Across the Board

New Mexico Junior College (NMJC) is joyed to share that Fall 2024 enrollment has seen a significant boost, with the headcount reaching 2,230 students—a 6.4% increase compared to the same time last year. This growth reflects our ongoing commitment to providing quality education.
As August 2024 comes to an end, the estimated total headcount for Fall 2024 stands at 2,230, marking a 6.4% increase from Fall 2023 enrollment! Of the total enrollment, 49.7% are full-time students, and 50.3% are part-time students, demonstrating a balanced distribution between different student needs and schedules. Continuing student enrollment has also seen a rise, with a 2.1% increase compared to last year, showing that more students are choosing to continue their educational journey with NMJC.
One of the most notable trends is the impressive 10.5% increase in first-time student enrollment, with the number rising from 556 in Fall 2023 to 613 in Fall 2024. This significant growth underscores the effectiveness of our outreach and recruitment efforts. Additionally, enrollment of in-district students is up by 5.7%, reflecting stronger community ties and local engagement. Dual enrollment, which allows high school students to earn college credits early, has shown a modest yet positive increase indicating continued interest in this opportunity. Moreover, enrollment from our neighboring state of Texas has grown by 2%, with 145 students in Fall 2024 compared to 142 in Fall 2023, demonstrating NMJC's ongoing appeal and efforts beyond state lines.
Overall, we are witnessing an ever-growing student community. The total credit hours are also up, increasing by and estimated 977 hours from 20,549 to 21,526, with the average credit hours per student reflecting a slight yet encouraging rise.
As we gear up for the 2024 - 2025 academic year, our focus remains on maintain an environment where all students—whether new, returning, or continuing—can thrive and achieve their educational goals. We are immensely proud of the strides we’ve made and look forward to building on this momentum in the years to come.
