New Mexico Junior College (NMJC) hosted its annual retirement reception on Apr. 30, 2024, to honor three esteemed faculty and staff members who have dedicated their careers to the institution. The event, held at NMJC, recognized the contributions of Nursing Retention Specialist, Lorraine Hannah for 10 years of service, Professor of Transitional Studies, Terry Holloman for 20 years of service, and Vice President for Instruction, Jeffery McCool for 30 years of service as they prepare to embark on their well-deserved retirements.

The retirement reception commenced with a speech from NMJC President, Derek Moore, Ed.D. highlighting the impact each retiree has had on the college community. Hannah was commended for her unwavering dedication to student success by Nursing Director, Cammie Armstrong "Many mornings Lorraine is on campus an hour or more before classes begin so she can be available to the students."

Holloman was celebrated for her passion for education and tireless efforts to empower students. Dean of Arts, Sciences, and Learning Support, Dianne Marquez expressed gratitude, stating, "I’m not sure who hired her, but I certainly can’t thank them enough for knowing what a sensational teacher Terry would be at NMJC. Her love of education and her love for her students is evident every day."

McCool was honored for his exemplary leadership and dedication to NMJC. Executive Assistant for the Vice President of Instruction, Connie Hanson, complimented McCool's leadership style, emphasizing his commitment to bringing out the best in those he works with.

In recognition of their years of service and dedication, each retiree received a special NMJC thank-you gift. As they embark on the next chapter of their lives, NMJC extends its deepest gratitude to Lorraine Hannah, Terry Holloman, and Jeffery McCool for their exceptional work and wishes them a fulfilling and joyful retirement.
