On Thursday, Apr. 11, 2024, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) proudly welcomed a record-breaking induction of new members. The induction ceremony, a highlight of the academic calendar, saw an exceptional turnout of approximately 100 attendees, including the newly initiated students, their families, faculty, staff, and friends.
Traditionally held once a year in spring, this year’s induction marked a significant milestone with a remarkable increase in the number of inductees. While the historical average hovered between 20 to 30 students, the class of 2024 shattered expectations with an impressive count of 45 talented individuals joining the esteemed ranks of Phi Theta Kappa.
Membership into Phi Theta Kappa is a prestigious recognition reserved for outstanding students who have demonstrated academic excellence and a commitment to their education. To qualify for an invitation, students must maintain a commendable GPA of 3.5 or higher, excluding transitional courses, while actively pursuing a degree program with a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.
Under the student leadership of Giovanna Ponce, Rebecca Jackson, Divyaxi Patel, and Kayla Casarez, Phi Theta Kappa at New Mexico Junior College continues to flourish in academic excellence and community engagement. Monthly meetings provide a platform for members to foster connections, engage in meaningful discussions, and contribute to impactful initiatives.
