New Mexico Junior College (NMJC) participated in a special event celebrating two outstanding high school students from CTECH who have been awarded scholarships from Urenco USA to enroll in NMJC’s Energy and Technology Program.

The event, held at CTECH, was a momentous occasion to recognize the achievements of the scholarship recipients Aryonna Hernandez and Danaly Ortega. The event highlighted the collaborative efforts between NMJC, Urenco USA (UUSA), and local High Schools. The scholarships will support the student’s educational journey, providing them with the skills and qualifications needed for successful careers in the energy and technology areas.

Director of Energy and Technology, Arturo Payen Jr., spoke to the importance of these scholarships. “The expectation is for students to complete the degree plan and become qualified in their area of study for job placement and the launching of a new career in a high-wage earning position,” said Payen. “This is a great opportunity for NMJC and local businesses and corporations to work cohesively to create pathways and programs of support, training, and certification for employment opportunities within our local communities.”

The Energy and Technology Program at NMJC is designed to equip students with hands-on experience and technical expertise necessary for thriving in today’s rapidly evolving job market. By partnering with industry leaders like UUSA, NMJC ensures that its students are well-prepared to meet the demands of high-wage, high-skill careers in the energy and technology fields. The scholarships from UUSA not only highlight the company's commitment to educational advancement but also strengthen the ties between local industry and educational institutions. This partnership is a testament to the shared goal of awarding talent and creating clear career pathways for the next generation of professionals.
