The Alliance for Innovation and Transformation (AFIT) is a nation-wide, non-profit organization that seeks to provide its members with inspired learning, development and networking opportunities focused on customer-driven value, innovation, transformation, and long-term sustainability. AFIT seeks to bring together higher education and private-sector industry partners in order to discuss challenges and innovations surrounding a particular technology-driven theme. This year’s focus and 2024 Summer Institute theme was: Looking Ahead to Empower the Future Today, focusing on Artificial Intelligence as an emerging point of learning and discussion. AFIT currently has over 50 members in 15 states.

For New Mexico Junior College, AFIT is seen as a vehicle to assess our institutional operations and identify potential value-added themes and pathways for sustainable growth. Also, in how the AFIT mission aligns with our institutional mission and strategic planning processes.

“It was exciting to see the participation and engagement from our AFIT team throughout the planning process and attendance for the 2024 Summer Institute. Having those emerging conversations with various campus stakeholders is critical for common understanding and forward, sustainable progress to ultimately support student success,” said Larchinee Turner, Dean of Workforce Training and Professional Studies.
