ENGLISH FOR THE WORKPLACE: CDL TRUCK DRIVING SERIES
 

Welcome! New Mexico Junior College strives to offer classes with the people of the community in mind. We’re committed to providing you with the best service and learning experience possible. This course will particularly cater to the Spanish speakers of the community who need just a little more confidence in their English in the industry. English for the Workplace focuses on developing the basic communication skills required by breaking down the jargon and terminology in the CDL driving industry. Students will work to develop their speaking and listening skills in order to communicate and comprehend familiar work scenarios and general topics.

CDL Learner's Permit Class

 

The class will help you prepare for the General Knowledge, Combination, Air Brake and Tanker test. These are the tests you will need to pass at the DMV to get your learners permit for a class A CDL. Books are included in the cost of the course. (The DMV Test Fee is not included)

CDL Training

 

NMJC offers a 1-week and a two-week CDL Training that meets the new Federal Regulations.

 

  One Week - 40 Hour Course* -$2,000   Two Week - 80 Hour Course-$3,000

 

Less Classroom / More Driving Time  
Operation of a Tractor Trailer
Skills Test with Certified CDL Examiner 
*Previous driving experience / CDL license*
(local or international) [for One Week Course only]

*Pre-assessment will be conducted to evaluate

Requirements Prior to Enrollment (at student’s expense):

  • DOT physical
  • Class A Learner’s Permit with Tanker Endorsement
  • Must pass DOT Drug Test

We offer the training bilingually. However, federal law requires that the CDL skills test be done in English. We limit our class size to 3 students per instructor/truck to ensure that you get a great deal of time behind the wheel and on the driving range. For more information, please contact our office. 


We are a Third Party CDL Testing Site which conducts required CDL Skills testing for the State of New Mexico. New Mexico Junior College has testing sites in Hobbs, Portales, Raton, and Taos. Once a driver has met the requirements of their Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP), please contact our office to set up the test.
