Credit for Prior Learning
Law Enforcement Officers are eligible to receive up to 32 credit hours for prior learning. In order to receive these credit hours, they must complete the following:
- Be a current student at NMJC (must have taken a class in the last year or be currently enrolled)
- Apply for Admission (if not already done so)
- Complete the Credit for Prior Learning application
- Send check, money order or credit card payment to NMJC for credits transferred ($5/per course)
All information is submitted to Division of Public Safety. Once received, the division will review the information and submit the check/money order/cc payment to the cashier for a receipt. The paperwork will then be sent to the Registrar’s Office along with the receipt and a memo stating what credits need to be applied to the student’s NMJC transcript.
Credits for Prior Learning will not be awarded and applied to the transcript until the student is registered for at least one course at NMJC.
Once the Registrar’s Office receives the paperwork, credits are applied to NMJC transcript and documents are scanned into Web Extender and added to the student’s records.
