November 12 — Hobbs, NM. The administration, faculty, staff, students and Board of New Mexico Junior College invite area community members on campus Tuesday, Nov. 15 for the 40th anniversary celebration and grand opening of the Ben Alexander Student Learning Center.

During the ceremonies, which begin at 3 p.m. in the Caster Activity Center, Ben Alexander will read his original dedication address from 40 years ago and offer insight into the next forty years. Those present for the ceremonies will be given a small token of appreciation to take with them as a reminder that New Mexico Junior College serves as a solid and steadfast foundation for educational excellence in Lea County and the surrounding community.

The college will also reveal a time capsule that will house historical documents, college publications, area newspapers from the week of the dedication, lapel spirit and logo pins, a baseball cap and shirt as well as other periodicals and items of interest.
