NMJC Hosted a Visiting Team from NATEF

October 2 — Hobbs, NM. Monday and Tuesday of this week NMJC hosted a visiting team from NATEF (the national accreditation program for automotive programs). The team reviewed all the automotive programs including the AVHS program for the first time.

At an exit briefing on Wednesday, the NATEF team informed NMJC that they are recommending continuing accreditation for our ASSET (Ford), ASEP (General Motors), and Automotive Technology Program. They are also recommending that our AVHS program be granted initial accreditation status. This is significant, because it now allows AVHS students attending NMJC to take certain national certification exams administered by ASE.

A memo from the teams leader said: “The New Mexico Junior College automotive facility is the finest automotive instructional facility that I have had the privilege to visit.”
