Joe Garcia Hispanic Educator of the Year Award

On May 2nd at the Cinco de Mayo celebration at Hobbs City Park, NMJC and KLMA radio presented NMJC Professor of Sociology, Joe Garcia, with the first annual Lea County Hispanic Educator of the Year award. To honor him as the first recipient of this award, it will now be known as the “Joe Garcia Hispanic Educator of the Year Award.” Next year an award will also be given to a Hispanic student.

This award is not limited only to college professors; it can be given to any Hispanic educator in Lea County.
