National Alcohol Screening Day

March 31, 2003 -- Hobbs, NM. Have you ever missed a class, can’t remember what happened the night before, or constantly disappoint loved ones simply because you’ve had too much to drink? Are you worried about a roommate’s drinking habits, or concerned about a friend’s binge drinking? Perhaps you know someone who can’t stop drinking once they start or they have even started drinking alone.

Regardless of the situation you face, there is help. In conjunction with National Alcohol Screening Day on April 11, the Guidance Center and NMJC are offering free and anonymous alcohol education sessions. A person can take a written self-assessment for alcohol-related problems, ask questions to a certified counselor and talk to a health professional – all for free.

Learn about the differences between alcohol dependence, alcohol abuse and risky drinking. Additionally, you can learn about the support services offered through the Counseling Center and how you or a friend can get help. Screenings will be held at the Student Center on the NMJC campus and at the Guidance Center of Lea County Thursday, April 10 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Call NMJC at 575.392.5609 or the Guidance Center at 393-3618 for more information.
