March 14, 2006 — Hobbs, NM. More than 40 employers will converge on the Lea County Event Center Thursday for the 2006 Job Fair hosted by New Mexico Junior College.
The employer booths will be open to the public from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Thursday, March 16 in the Lea County Event Center banquet hall. Last year the fair drew more than 125 people, but NMJC officials are expecting an even better turn out for Thursday's event.
"We have so many employers this year that we're going to have to set up lunch for the vendors in a different area than we had planned. It is a good problem to have," said NMJC Dean of Counseling Dr. Pat Gorman. "I think more people from the community are aware of the fair and will take advantage of it this year."
For more than 14 years, this event has been a link for employers and employees to connect with one another, according to NMJC coordinator of placement and minority recruitment Robert Turner.
"We're excited about the employer turn out, but I think we will be pleased with the employee turn out — those seeking jobs." Turner said. "The job fair is a link between employers and potential employees. I think it is a win-win for everyone who participates."
