NMJC Celebrates Black History Month
2/14/2007 12:39:40 p.m. - Hobbs, NM. New Mexico Junior College began recognition of National Black History Month with a luncheon on Thursday, February 1, 2007.
With February marking the annual observance of Black History Month, NMJC will host several events to commemorate black culture and history, including a Gospel Ensemble, scheduled for Saturday, February 17th, 7:00 p.m., Pleasant Green Baptist Church; an Agalu African Music and Culture workshop, scheduled for Friday, February 23rd; and an Agalu Interactive Family Concert, scheduled for Saturday, February 24th.
Additionally, the 2nd Annual Community Wide Black History Program will feature renowned author and educator Dr. Aretha Marbley on Sunday, February 25, 2007, at 3:00 p.m., at Nelson Tydings Auditorium.
Students and community members are welcome to attend all events.
