NMJC Offering Business Degree Online
2/13/2007 4:52:26 p.m. - Hobbs, NM. When it comes to options for students, New Mexico Junior College keeps adding to its list, including a business degree available online beginning this spring.
Shalaine Britain, accounting student and staff accountant for Johnson Miller & Co., explains, "The online business courses work for me because I don't have a choice: I work full-time. With my classes being online, I pick the best time for me to complete my homework."
"You're able to work full-time and have family commitments and fit school into your lifestyle as well. If you need to, you can do your work online at 2 a.m. That's the beauty of it. Online enrollment for NMJC has grown over 700% from the spring '06 to fall '06 semesters," stated Lisa Hardison, Dean of Extended Learning. NMJC continues to add degrees to their online program to meet this growing trend.
Robert Guthrie, Professor of Accounting, who has been instrumental in getting the degree online agrees, "You can't receive a better quality education or a more affordable associate degree anywhere," said Guthrie. "Now, with this Associate of Art degree with an emphasis in business being offered online, it just makes enrolling that much more appealing to those who may have put their education off for whatever reason. Plus, NMJC's online Associate in Art is easily transferable toward four-year degrees."
