Moran Lecture Series to Feature Dynamic Presenter Pegine
10/23/2010 11:52:14 p.m. - Hobbs, NM. New Mexico Junior College and County Education In-Service will feature the highly acclaimed educator, author, and motivational speaker Pegine as the Fall 2010 Moran Lecture Series keynote speaker on Thursday, November 4, from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. at Tydings Auditorium on the Hobbs High School campus.
Feisty, fun, and extremely high energy, Pegine is one of only 58 inductees in the Motivational Speakers Hall of Fame, which includes Zig Ziglar, Dale Carnegie, and Tony Robbins. She also goes by her first name only, insisting if it is good enough for Oprah, it is good enough for her. In presentations, she goes to great lengths to motivate and educate her audiences, who walk away informed, energized, and highly entertained. Pegine draws on her regular stints as a stand-up comic at The Comedy Zone in Jacksonville, Florida, to delight audiences as she shares powerful and innovative ideas on leadership and diversity.
New York Newsday calls Pegine “a walking one-woman antidote to workplace cynicism.” The Society of Human Resource Management named her one of 100 Global Thought Leaders on Diversity and Inclusion. She appeared on The Montel Williams Show 32 times, where he won his first Emmy award, thanks to a “Pegine moment.”
Her quotes have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, HR Magazine, Washington Post, NY Times, and Latina Magazine. She has also appeared on National Public Radio and CNN. Pegine has had the privilege of presenting on the stage with such notables as Maya Angelou, John Maxwell, Suze Orman, and former senator Hillary Clinton.
She is author of one of the Society of Human Resource's best-selling books, Sometimes You Need to Kick Your Own Butt, and has recently released Lighten Up and Lead: How to be a Feisty, Fearless, Focused, Fun Female Leader.
During her teen years, Pegine, a Latina, had become a gang member, but left the gang at 17 and moved to Spain where she opened and sold two businesses by the age of 23. She ultimately followed in the footsteps of her mother, who was a career educator, and Pegine became a kindergarten, third-grade, and fifth-grade teacher, and served as director of a community-based support center for high school girls. She has also been a top salesperson, national sales manager, and president of a direct sales company. Her current company, Team Pegine, Inc. (TPI), is one of fewer than 700 businesses worldwide awarded the Certified Speaking Professional designation. In order to receive the coveted designation, Team Pegine, Inc. underwent an extensive independent five-year audit for expertise, eloquence, enterprise and ethics.
The Moran Lecture Series is free of charge and open to the public.
