NMJC Theatre Department to Perform Beyond Therapy
10/12/2009 11:09:50 a.m. - Hobbs, NM. For its Fall 2009 theatre production, the Performing Arts Department of New Mexico Junior College will perform Christopher Durang’s “insanely funny” comedy Beyond Therapy, on October 15 – 17 at 8:00 p.m. each evening and on October 18 at 2:00 p.m. in Watson Hall Theatre.
Shakespeare once said that there’s a very fine line dividing lovers and lunatics, but according to critics and audiences alike, the adult comedy Beyond Therapy erases the line completely! All six characters in the play, according to NMJC Theatre Director John R. Rice, are ultimately “looking for love in all the wrong places, and all six are definitely beyond therapy, to greater and lesser degrees.”
“It may be worth noting,” Rice added, “that the two characters who have the most tenuous grasp on sanity just happen to be the trained psychotherapists who are treating the other four. This is not, however, simply a case of the insane leading the blind. All of these people can clearly see—that all of the others are lunatics!”
The cast of Beyond Therapy includes Evan Witkowski as Bruce, Jasmin Wright as Prudence, William Holland as Stuart, Briana Schneider as Mrs. Wallace, David Baeza as Bob, and Jesse Miller as Andrew the Waiter.
Beyond Therapy is directed by John Rice, with Ian Myers as assistant director, and Maria Ruiz as lighting/sound operator.
Tickets for Beyond Therapy are $8 for adults and $6 for students and senior citizens. For reservations or more information, call John Rice at (575) 492-2846.
