NMJC Ultra-Tsonics Perform for Humane Society Benefit
10/29/2008 3:55:57 p.m. - Hobbs, NM. In what promises to be a colorful and highly entertaining evening of music, costume, and song, the New Mexico Junior College Ultra-Tsonics Singers will be guest performers at the 6th Annual "Paws & Claws Gala," Lea County Humane Society's Fundraiser, on Friday, November 7, at the Hobbs Country Club.
According to Anne Turner Tsonis, director of the Ultra-Tsonics, the event will begin at 6 p.m. with a silent auction, followed by a dinner buffet, entertainment, and a live auction provided by community businesses and volunteers.
The evening's performance by the Ultra-Tsonics will consist of nine colorfully masked singers performing an animal-themed song medley including "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," Disney's "Siamese Cat Song" (from Lady and the Tramp), a madrigal (involving a bird, cat, and dog), and Broadway's "The Lion King."
The 2008-2009 Ultra-Tsonics include Heather Bunell, Brandi Campbell, Monique Hernandez, Sara Inman, Mark Jiminez, William Raabe II, Sean Sims, Marcus Sparenberg, and Ross Strickland. Founded in 2005 by Tsonis, the Ultra-Tsonics have performed for Southwest Symphony dinners, NMJC recitals and concerts, and at the First Presbyterian Church of Hobbs.
The purpose for the Gala is to raise funds to provide care, food, and medical needs for the adoptable dogs and cats at the Lea County Humane Society.
