NMJC Women's Rodeo Wins

NMJC Women's Rodeo Wins photo 11/14/2006 8:08:15 a.m. - Hobbs, NM. New Mexico Junior College Women's Rodeo team took first place at the New Mexico High School/College Challenge Rodeo Championship, held the first weekend of November.

Scoring 308 points total, New Mexico Junior College walked away the all-around winner. New Mexico State University, Eastern New Mexico University, New Mexico Highlands, and various high school students all participated in the event hosted in Farmington, N.M.

Freshman Kobi Olineck, the women's all around champion, led NMJC's team with the highest average in goat tying and placed second in breakaway roping. Sophomores Kelsi Elkins and Alicia Sandoval aided in the victory by placing third and ninth in goat tying, respectively. Sandoval and freshman Stephanie Rodriquez rounded out the team's placement by finishing seventh and fifth in barrel racing.

NMJC Men's Rodeo finished fourth overall.
