Cowboy Hall of Fame to Host Roping & Barrel Racing Event
10/3/2007 9:52:45 a.m. - Hobbs, NM. The Lea County Cowboy Hall of Fame will host its 53rd Annual Lea County Championship Roping and Barrel Racing event, open to Lea County residents only, on Sunday, October 21, in Eunice, NM.
All proceeds from the event will go toward scholarships for NMJC students. Entry deadline is October 15, and fee deadline is October 21 by 9 am. Admission is free, and gate prizes will be given away.
Junior events will begin at 9 am, which include junior tie-down (2 head), for 16 yrs and under; junior breakaway (1 head), for 12 yrs and under; and junior barrels, for 12 yrs and under. Other events will begin at 11 am, which include men's 4 calf average; open barrel race; old timers' breakaway (2 head), for 55 years and older; ladies' open breakaway (2 head); and husband and wife ribbon roping.
