Men's Basketball Coaches Resign
3/6/2018 4:40:07 p.m. - Hobbs, NM.
New Mexico Junior College Athletic Director Deron Clark announced today that he has accepted the resignations of NMJC Men’s Basketball Coach Brian Lohrey and Assistant Coach Shaun Gutting. Clark said that he and the coaches agreed that the time is right to make a leadership change.
Clark said, “With the last game of the season behind us, it is the right time for Coach Lohrey and Coach Gutting to pursue their opportunities, and for NMJC to step back and make some decisions about who we will ask to lead the team next year.” Clark went on, “It has been an honor to work with both of these men, and NMJC appreciates the time and energy both have placed into our men’s basketball program.”
Lohrey was head coach of the Thunderbirds for the last three years. Prior to taking on the head coaching duties, he was NMJC assistant coach. Gutting started as a volunteer basketball coach with the college, and served as assistant coach for the past three years under Lohrey.
NMJC will begin a national search for both positions.
