Over 750 high school juniors and seniors attended NMJC's annual Discover Day Wednesday, October 4, where they have the chance to learn about New Mexico Junior College, tour the campus, talk to professors and counselors, and win prizes. The exact number was 756 students, which is 119 more than in 2016.
Students attended from Hobbs, Hobbs Alternative School, Lovington, Jal, Tatum, New Hope, and Eunice, plus 77 out-of-district students who drove from all over Southeast New Mexico and West Texas.
Departments at the college set up booths to showcase their programs. NMJC student clubs were also present to talk about student life and the fun activities available. Plus high schoolers toured the dorms and apartments to see how they like student housing. At the end of the event, hot dogs and ice cream were served.
