New Mexico Junior College has a history of longevity with its staff and faculty... all the more obvious when the college says farewell to those retiring.

For seven of these retirees, it added up to 159 years of working at NMJC.

At its annual Retirement Party, the college had deans, supervisors and others wish the retirees well. Those leaving are:

  • Betty Curry, Testing Center Coordinator - 43-1/2 years
  • Winona (Willy) C. Miller, Executive Assistant to the Vice President for Student Services - 27 years
  • Nelda G. Helms, Head Cheerleading coach and Professor of Physical Education - 25 years
  • Tami M. Cavitt, Professor of Spanish and ESL - 22-1/2 years
  • Dr. Stephen A. Townsend, Professor Government/History - 18 years
  • Delores D. Thompson, Director of Registered Nursing Program - 12 years
  • Jimmy Gutierrez, Custodian - 11 years

We wish them all well as they begin a new chapter.
