Free Family Fun Day Saturday February 25
2/21/2017 9:22:18 a.m. - Hobbs, NM. The Western Heritage Museum and Lea County Cowboy Hall of Fame will host a Family Fun Day, Saturday, February 25 from 10:00am to 3:00pm. The event is free to the public.
Families will enjoy crafts, a Fossil Discovery experience, free admission into the current exhibit Dinosaur Discoveries, plus see the classic movie at 2pm The Land Before Time.
There is also a special presentation in honor of Black History Month. Henry Crawford, the retired curator of history at the Museum of Texas Tech University, will introduce the history of the Buffalo Soldiers, and their place within the Llano Estacado. Crawford, who will be dressed in a period-appropriate Army uniform, will explain the important role played by the Buffalo Soldiers in the settling of the western states following the Civil War. His “living history” presentation will not only include the equipment used, but also a saddling demonstration on a real horse.
Crawford’s presentations will be at 11:00am and 1:00pm.
