Baseball Camp at NMJC Will Help Youth Improve Their Skills
1/7/2016 2:47:44 p.m. - Hobbs, NM. New Mexico Junior College baseball program will sponsor a baseball camp Saturday January 9 and Sunday January 10 for ages 7 through 18 at Ray Birmingham Field on the NMJC campus.
Saturday, the camp will focus on pitching. Sunday the fundamentals of hitting the ball will be taught. Kids will be divided by age: children ages 7-12 will be taught form 10am to 12:30pm both days, while ages 13-18 can attend from 1pm – 3:30pm.
The pitching camp will be instructed by NMJC Interim Head Baseball Coach Jake McCarter, a 5-time major league baseball draftee and four-year professional baseball veteran with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The hitting and infield instructor will be taught by Lauro Felix, NMJC Assistant Coach, a 12-year veteran in professional baseball with the Oakland A’s, Milwaukee Brewers, and the Mexican League.
Registration is $50 each day. Parents can register their children on site, 30 minutes before the start of each camp session. Only cash and checks will be accepted.
Each student should bring a baseball glove and appropriate clothing for outdoor weather.
