Cash For College March 7
2/26/2015 5:50:52 p.m. - Hobbs, NM. New Mexico Junior College (NMJC) is hosting a workshop to help potential students apply for scholarships and financial aid. The training is Saturday, March 7 from 9:00 a.m. to noon in the Ben Alexander Student Learning Center, room 202.
Financial aid professionals will be on hand to answer questions and guide parents and students through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Anyone can apply for FAFSA, and having experts show students how to answer questions on the application should alleviate many mistakes often made.
Kerrie Mitchell, NMJC Financial Aid Director, said, “Regardless of where a student intends to go to college, in order to receive federal financial aid, one must complete the FAFSA.” Students must bring their parents’ and their own 2014 federal income tax return to the workshop.
Members of the NMJC Foundation will also present a workshop for those students wishing to apply for scholarships. There are numerous scholarships available for students, but they must understand the criteria for each and how to fill out the applications. All scholarship applications are due at the NMJC Foundation office by 5:00 p.m. on March 27, 2015.
