The NMJC Thunderbirds continued their outdoor season this past Friday and Saturday at the West Texas A&M Classic in Canyon, TX.  The ladies came away with five improved national qualifying marks, three first place finishes, one new national qualifying mark and one facility record.

Leading the way for the team was Mariam Kromah. The sophomore sprinter improved her national qualifying mark in the 200M and 400M races. In doing so she won the 400M in a new facility record time of 54.28. “It was a windy day, but Mariam raced it (400) the way I told her to and she ran an outstanding time set the facility record” commented Coach Blackwill.

The team will finish up the regular portion of the season on May 3rd at the Texas Tech Red Raider Open.
