When you're halfway through a course but need a refresher on what you learned the second week of class, try SMARTHINKING!
Your username is your student ID. Example: A00012345 or ADACHA. Your password is NMJC.
STEP 1: LOGIN
- Go to www.smarthinking.com.
- Enter your username and password as shown above.
- You’re now connected to your academic home page.
STEP 2: GET HELP
Connect with an e-structor and interact with a live tutor when you have a question.
Note: The first time you use SMARTHINKING, you will get a “plug-in” notice. You must click "Yes" when asked if you will accept the plug-in.
Submit your writing for any class to our Online Writing Lab and receive feedback from a tutor usually within 24 hours.
Submit a question and a tutor will reply usually within 24 hours.
STEP 3: PROBLEMS? CHECK YOUR TECH
- Processor: 300 MHz or higher processor (or Mac equivalent).
- Browser: For PC users: Netscape 6 or better, or Internet Explorer 6 or better. For Apple Mac users: Internet Explorer 5.1 or higher or Safari 1.3 or better.
- Connection: minimum 56K modem recommended.

NOTE: NMJC students have 15 hours of tutoring (with a 12 essay limit) to use over 1 year. Each account is charged 20 minutes for an asynchronous submittal, 35 minutes per essay submittal, and to the minute for live sessions plus a 5-minute archiving fee.
