This week's race proved to be tough in several categories. We were at 3,000 ft. higher altitude, we raced against Div. I schools, and the race was 1,000 m. longer than what we normally race. The field consisted of teams such as UNM, UTEP, Texas Tech, LSU, and Texas A & M. We finished 9th in a tough field of 12. We were the only junior College in the field.
Texas Tech women won the meet with Texas A & M second and UNM third. Rita Ameri led the NMJC field with finishing 41st, Lorraine Villegas finished in 44th, Amanda Bayer was 45th, Amber Massey was 51st, Eunice Jepkogey finished 52nd, Marla Hiebert was 83rd, Ashley Dailey was 89th and Krista Donaker was 91st. It was a great experience to run against some of the top teams in the Big XII. This gives our girls a true look at what competition is like at this level.
Our next meet will be
at NMSU in Las Cruces this Saturday. Expected teams will be NMSU, NMJC, Western
New Mexico, UNM, UTEP, and College of the Southwest. Race time for collegiate
women will be 8:00 a.m.
